One of the anchors of the 2025 LSU Baseball recruiting class, Dean Moss is ready to get his senior prep season going at IMG Academy.
The 6-0, 185-pound left-handed hitting outfielder who is officially from Atherton, California, plays his prep baseball at the prestigious IMG Academy in Florida and is one of the top-rated overall players in the country amongst the 2025 class.
“No injuries heading into the school year,” Moss said. “I’m fully healthy and good to go.”
Moss’ play in the field recently went viral with a sensational catch at the recent Perfect Game All-American Classic in Arizona, robbing an extra base hit with a sensational over the shoulder catch.
“It was a cool catch to be able to make that in a Major League stadium (Chase Field),” he said. “The batter got a good swing on the ball and honestly I thought it was gone off the bat. I was just trying to track it. I was fortunate enough to reach over my back and head and make the play.”
Always looking to hone his craft, Moss detailed some specific goals he has heading into his final prep season at IMG.
“Number one is I want us to win the National Championship,” he said. “Individually, one of my biggest specific goals is to get faster in everything I do on the field. “I would also like to try and hit for a little more power. I hit for some power right now, but hitting for some more would be awesome.
“None of the power stuff has anything to do with my swing. My swing is really good right now. It’s mainly just getting bigger in the weight room, but staying fit at the same time. I just have to find the happy medium of being able to handle more weight and not getting too big.”
Confirming that he will be signing early with the Tigers in November, Moss reiterated that his commitment to the Tigers remains rock solid.
“100-percent a Tiger,” he said. “Can’t wait to get there. I can play all three outfield positions very well, so it’s just a matter of where the coaching staff wants me to be. At any level, I think I’m going to be able to figure out how to hit successfully. At the end of the day I’ll play wherever the coaches want to put me.
“My relationship with the coaching staff as well continues to evolve. They don’t have to recruit me anymore. They both were at a lot of my games this past summer. Now, it’s just a review of the games I play and analyzing what I did well and what I can do better. That’s a majority of what I talk about with them.”
While the 2024 Tigers didn’t have the best of seasons in terms of where they finished, Moss complimented the grit of last year’s squad.
“I was really impressed with what I saw last year,” Moss said. “I know it didn’t finish the way we all wanted and stuff, but they fought and battled. That 2024 team had a lot of dog in them. What a tough regional, and if they were in any other regional they probably would have ended up in Omaha.
“But don’t worry, help is on the way.”
